DAVE WOOD | | bouzouki, guitar, backing vocals
From Grindleford in Derbyshire, Dave is regarded as one of the leading guitarists on the folk scene today due to his innovative, rhythmical accompaniment style.
A graduate of the Folk Music Degree course at Newcastle University, Dave played for several years with acclaimed young band CrossCurrent before joining Malinky in the autumn of 2007.
He has been interested in traditional music from a young age and in 1998 co-founded the group ‘dalta’. In 2001 he was invited to play bouzouki at the prestigious film premiere of Lord of the Rings.
Dave has also performed alongside Shetland fiddle star Catriona MacDonald, Claire Mann and Brian Conway, to name but a few. He is also a regular touring partner with celebrated Northumbrian musician Tom McConville. Dave appears on a number of recordings by Tom, singer Bill Jones, and fellow former CrossCurrent member Lillias Kinsman-Blake.
Dave is also a popular workshop leader and guitar tutor who specialises in guitar accompaniment for standard tuning.
